1. What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared non invasive procedure to lift the skin on the neck, under the chin, and on the eye brow. It also improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. The way that Ultherapy works, is by using focused ultrasound treatment that precisely targets different levels of tissue to cause a lifting and tightening effect by stimulating the body’s own natural collagen production.
2. How long do the effects of Ultherapy last?
Since the procedure stimulates a person’s own collagen production, how long the results last depends on the individual. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but the individual’s natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside. Future touch-up treatments can help provide more control over the aging process, which varies by individual.
3. What are the side effects of Ultherapy?
Side effects from Ultherapy are uncommon. There is a small risk of temporary numbness and tingling sensation.
4. How painful is Ultherapy?
Like with most effective treatments, there will be a little bit of discomfort, but it is well managed with our pain-management protocol. At Advanced Plastic Surgery Center All of our patients have been able to complete the treatment.
5. Can Ultherapy damage your skin?
Over one million treatments have been performed globally, and there has been no reports of Ultherapy causing damage to the skin as this treatment stimulates collagen, which in turn improves skin quality.
6. How long does it take to recover from Ultherapy?
There is virtually no recovery after Ultherapy. Some patients may experience a little bit of redness, depending upon the settings of the treatment. There are no pre-treatment or post-treatment restrictions, you can resume your normal activities, and wear makeup as you normally would.
7. Can Ultherapy cause fat loss?
The subcutaneous fat is not exposed to the necessary temperatures needed to cause fat cell destruction long enough to pose this risk. Ultherapy is a very safe treatment especially when performed by a trained professional, like our team at Advanced Plastic Surgery Center
8. How many sessions of Ultherapy do you need?
Depending upon the degree of skin laxity, anywhere from one to 3 treatments will be needed. Treatments can be done every 6 months. A majority of patients see results with one treatment, but to get optimal results multiple treatments may be needed. Once you have achieved your final results, a maintenance treatment can be done within 3-5 years. We personally discuss your option with your at Advanced Plastic Surgery Center, so you make the best decisions to get the outcome you desire.
9. How long is an Ultherapy session?
Each session takes approximately 1.5 hours to 2 hours, depending on the amount of surface area treated.
10. Is Ultherapy better than Thermage?
Ultherapy and Thermage use two completely different technologies. Thermage uses radiofrequency which causes bulk heating to the tissue but does not have the precision of the Ultherapy. As a result, Thermage may not address the customized needs of the patient. Ultherapy is more personalized to each patient’s anatomy because it uses focused ultrasound therapy to deliver the energy exactly where it is needed, making it more effective.
